| BELFAST was
transformed by the Industrial Revolution. It is evident in the wealth of the buildings.
Most of the main streets radiate out from the hub of Donegall Squae. At its center
stands the stone edifice of City Hall with its huge central copper dome. From
City Hall, walk north along Donegall Place and Royal Avenue if you want to see
the shops. Sights near the square include the Linen Hall Library, the Grand
Opera House and the Crown Liquor Saloon (a famous pub). The area near
Queens University, south of the city holds two must see attractions; the Ulster
Museum and the Botanic Gardens. |
