| To explore BOISE,
start at the domed State Capitol which was built of sandstone blocks quarried
by inmates at the Old Idaho Penitentiary located east of town. No longer
in use, it houses several museums. The city's historical district is located 3
blocks south of the capitol. Many restored Victorian commercial buildings house
restaurants, coffee houses, boutiques and nightclubs. Museums lie in the center
of Julia Davis Park, a large greenbelt area that straddles the Boise River.
Another interesting attraction is the Peregrine Funds World Center for Birds
of Prey located fifteen minutes outside of the city, where visitors can see
falcons, eagles and condors. | | | | |
