| BUDAPEST,
the capital city of Hungary is the country's commercial, political and cultural
centre. The river Danube runs through the centre of Budapest, the Buda hills rising
majestically on the west bank while the Pest district denotes the beginning of
the Great Plain to the east. The city itself is full of cobble stone streets,
historic buildings and cafes and trendy bistros. Although many of the historical
buildings were destroyed in World War II, there are still many to view, such as
the Parliament Building and the Royal Palace. The city also has
a good selection of galleries and museums including the Hungarian Natural History
Museum and the Hungarian National Museum. |
